24 Hours In St Andrews

We recently travelled to St Andrews in Scotland for the weekend and I thought it’d be a nice opportunity to take some pictures for a blog post. It’s such a beautiful place with so much history, so I’ve decided to put together my top tips for a day in St Andrews, making the most of everything it has to offer.

Take in the views

There’s a lot of aspects of Scotland that remind me of Iceland. You don’t have to be an amazing photographer to take the best pictures in Scotland (similarly to Iceland), everything’s easy on the eye. With that in mind, the first place we headed to was the harbour. The harbour is one of the most popular places to visit in St Andrews, with an easy walk to the Cathedral.

We got there around 11am on Saturday morning and it was very peaceful. It was lovely to watch the fisherman setting up and all the different boats. Considering we were in St Andrews during ‘Hurricane Abigail’ the sea was extremely calm and so peaceful. It’s the perfect place to visit after a stressful week, if you’re looking for a bit of relaxation time!

Eden Mill

It’s no secret that Scotland is famous for a wealth of different alcoholic drinks. But there’s a special treat for those of you visiting St Andrews. Eden Mill is a combined brewery and distillery. All of its wonderful beer, gin and whisky is crafted entirely by hand. In the summer, I did a drink recipe post using my wonderful Eden Mill gin (here) if you’re interested.

We haven’t been on a tour yet, they get booked up pretty quickly, so I’d recommend booking before you go. However, we have visited the great shop, which also has an online shop. I’d really recommend their gift options for Christmas. The Gin Gift Pack (image below) is my favourite gift idea!

There’s something about fresh Scottish air that makes Scotland such a good place to relax & get away from it all. Flights from London to Edinburgh are just over an hour, so it’s so convenient to pop up for a weekend trip. I’m extremely lucky that I get to go to The Old Course Hotel for work fairly regularly – which just so happens to have the amazing Kohler Waters Spa in it.

As many of you will know, I’ve been doing some PR work alongside the guys at the spa recently, so I’ve been lucky enough to try some of the treatments & it really is so lovely to relax there.

I took a couple of pictures from our room below that I thought I’d share with you. One is of The Old Course Golf Course & the other is of my fabulous bath!

If you venture up to St Andrews, I’d love to hear your top tips. As mentioned, I have to go up there for work, so there’s always opportunities to try out new places!
