First Look: Sani Dunes, Halkidiki

Sani Dunes opened last week and I wanted to give you a first look at it. I’ve been to Sani Marina before and really loved the area. It’s a sprawling complex of Hotels on the outskirts of Halkidiki, Greece, and not too far from Thessaloniki airport. This was an interesting opening for me, because I’m a big fan of Resort as a whole.

The Hotel

The 136-room beachfront hotel offers guests many benefits from the largest outdoor pool in Greece to a private beach and three restaurants. The Sani Resort now has a total of five hotels in its portfolio.

As well as the amenities you come to expect from a hotel of this standard, it also offers some slightly out there additions. A new collaboration with Volvo has meant that the team can now offer guests a 2-hour, complimentary chauffeur driven private tour. Should you want to take them up on this, you’ll be able to see the forest tracks, olive groves and rugged coastline from atop the clifftop routes. The highlight of this trip is a stop off at Cape Posidi, where guests can enjoy sparking wine whilst taking in views of Mount Olympus.

The Location

Sani Resort is like it’s own little private village. Should you wish to, you could stay there the whole time and find everything you need for your stay in the surrounding areas. Sani Dunes is a stones throw away from the Marina, which features numerous shops and restaurants. Both the shops and restaurants range in price dependent on what you’re looking for.

I would recommend leaving the Resort during your stay because there are some lovely restaurants in the vicinity. Halkidiki is bigger than we perhaps thought and we felt lucky to have hired a car.

The Food

Like I said, I really enjoyed the food in Greece – and I had a great meal in Sani Marina, too. I don’t doubt that the three new restaurants in the Sani portfolio will follow the same high quality.

The hotel has three restaurants; Fresco, Beach House and Dunes Restaurant. Fresco offers guests Michelin-starred Chef, Ettore Botrini. The Beachhouse boasts more of a relaxed, laid-back vibe, the perfect place to go for a beach-side snack. The Dunes Restaurant is where breakfast is served as well as à la carte Mediterranean dishes in the evening.

Your Thoughts

Have you been to any of the Sani Resort hotels before? I’d love to hear your thoughts. I’m looking forward to arranging a trip here soon, so hopefully I can do some more in-depth reviews for you!
